Simple Move: How to use the Step Tracker

The Steps tracker lets you log your daily steps and keep an eye on your activity. Your steps are a simple, low-pressure way to see how much you're moving through the day. You can log them, tidy up your entries, and set the tracker up however feels right for you — all from the Nutrition tab. Here's how.

Finding the Steps tracker

  1. Open the Nutrition tab.

  2. Scroll all the way down and tap the Steps section at the bottom of the page.

Logging steps manually

Want to log a walk manually or even for a past date? It only takes a moment:

  1. Open the Nutrition tab and scroll down to the Steps section.

  2. Tap the + sign.

  3. Select one of the Quick add amounts, or type your own number of steps.

  4. Choose the date you want the steps logged for.

  5. Tap Log steps.

You can also have steps logged automatically by connecting Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android). See Syncing steps with Apple Health and Health Connect.

Deleting a logged entry

Logged something by mistake? No worries — it's easy to take it back:

  1. Open the Nutrition tab and tap the Steps section.

  2. Scroll to the list of entries under Daily Step Activity at the bottom.

  3. Find the entry you want to remove and swipe it left.

  4. Tap the Delete button that appears, then confirm by tapping Delete again.

Entries are removed one at a time, and deleting an entry can't be undone. If you logged something by mistake, just log the correct amount again.

Hiding/Showing the tracker

If you'd rather not see the Steps tracker on the page, you can hide it — and bring it back the same way.

  1. Open the Nutrition tab and tap the ... icon in the top-right corner.

  2. Select Edit step goal.

  3. Toggle Show Steps Tracker Widget off to hide it, or on to bring it back, then exit.

Hiding the tracker only removes it from view — any steps you've already logged are kept, and they'll be there when you turn the tracker back on.
